First National Bank of Weatherford was chartered in
1964, and has operated continuously in Custer County since its inception. In May
of 1982, First National
Bancshares of Weatherford, Inc. was formed as a one bank
holding company. In September, 1984, The Office of the Comptroller of the
Currency approved the application for the Trust Department. First National Bank
of Weatherford then became the First National Bank and Trust Company of
Weatherford.
The bank's primary mission has been to serve the
banking needs of Weatherford as well as the surrounding areas. This
continues to be the primary driving force behind the bank today. Being the
only locally owned bank, we have built a reputation for service, quality and conservative soundness that has served the bank well through
the years.
Current location is the second building in the history of the bank. It began operations in 1964, at
115 N. Custer and operated out of that building until September, 1985. First National Bank of
Weatherford's location was then moved to its present site at 1100 East Main. The building was
built with three floors in consideration of the future needs of the bank. Presently the bank
occupies the main floor plus a suite on the third floor. The other offices are being rented out
at this time.
First National Bank and Trust Company of Weatherford
started with the main
branch located at Weatherford but then seized the
opportunity to purchase the Farmers National Bank of Cordell when it failed in
December, 1987. This bank is now a full service branch in Cordell. First
National Bank and Trust Company of Weatherford also has six ATM sites to serve
their customers.
In November 1997, First National Bank purchased a
building in Hinton, Oklahoma to remodel and start a Loan and Deposit Production
office. On February 2, 1998 the doors opened on the Loan and Deposit
Production Office with Commercial Check
Cashing facilities. Since this time
Hinton has become a full service branch with new facilities being built north of
town.
